For the implementation and the operation of an infrastructure of battery charge- and swap-stations a central base station in Amsterdam is needed. This base station could share its functionality conveniently with an electric wharf for all boats with pure electrical propulsion. We are thinking of a ‘learning while working’ company where knowledge from various disciplines meets and strengthens itself. Elektrisch Varen Foundation has done research into a suitable location for such a electric wharf and ended up on Kattenburgereiland. The geographical location of this island is ideal and has as an advantage that the Marine Terrain located there gets a new destination. Therefor the property of the domain would be handed over from the Ministry of Defense to the municipality of Amsterdam.
